Our lake is a source of peace, recreation, and memories for generations. But keeping it healthy and vibrant doesn’t happen by chance. It takes ongoing care, vigilance, and collective effort. The work of our lake association depends entirely on the support of people like you. By joining us or donating today, you’re investing in the health of our lake, property values, and the enjoyment of future generations. Our lake needs us—and we need you.

A healthy Lake Monomonac benefits us all. Protecting it takes people with different talents working together.

Over the next several years, the MLPOA will implement our Watershed Management Plan by expanding LakeSmart, completing watershed projects, securing grant funding, and strengthening community education. It’s an exciting effort—and one that requires more volunteers with a variety of skills.

That’s why we’re inviting community members to get involved by serving on our Board or joining our new volunteer network, Friends of the Lake.

Whether you have a few hours each month or want to take on a larger role, we’d love to match your interests and skills with meaningful opportunities.

Did you know that the MLPOA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization? This means your donations are tax-deductible and the association is required to operate solely in support of its mission to protect and preserve the lake for the benefit of all members.

Not ready to become a member but want to support our important work? Tax-deductible checks may be mailed to:

What Your Membership Supports

Water Quality
Protecting the water quality of Lake Monomonac is the primary mission of the Monomonac Lake Property Owners Association.

Watershed Management Plan
MLPOA and Winchendon Springs Lake Association (WSLA) are working on a watershed-based study of the area surrounding Lake Monomonac. We will be working on implementation over the next ten years to improve and protect the water quality of Lake Monomonac.

Lake Host Program
The Lake Host Program was created by the NH Legislature in 2000 to minimize the introduction and spread of invasive aquatic plants and animals in NH lakes.

Water Testing—Volunteer Lake Assessment Program (VLAP)
The New Hampshire VLAP is one of the oldest programs in the state for the protection and preservation of lakes. It was launched in 1985 to establish a citizen-based lake sampling program to assist NHDES in evaluating lake quality throughout the state and to empower citizens with information about the health of the state’s lakes and ponds.

Cyanobacteria
Cyanobacteria (formerly known as blue-green algae) are naturally occurring in most lakes, though often in relatively low concentrations. Many species of cyanobacteria grow in colonies that form surface-water “blooms.”

John Sarasin Lake Education Day
Established in 1969, this joint effort with NHDES was initially titled Lake Ecology Day. In 2005, it was renamed in honor of its founder, John Sarasin.
